According to sources familiar with the plans for the RPG game, Vicarious Visions has been working on the remake of Diablo 2 since sometime last year. The game is reportedly in remake at Blizzard internal development studio as per reports released by Bloomberg. The news was made officially by Activision station Vicarious would be helping with “Blizzard games” and would make “new initiatives”. Although the present initiative as per rumors on-air is Diablo 2.
The Bloomberg report also states that initially the team 1 was in talking for Diablo 2. They handled the launch of games like StarCraft 2, Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft: Remastered, and Warcraft 3: Reforged were responsible for this too. But due to poor reception reports of the latter, it is the Diablo 4 team that is in charge. Team 1 was disbanded around October last year, with some getting transferred elsewhere with the rest getting fired.
The current remake is said to hold the title, Diablo 2: Resurrection. In addition to Tony Hawk, and providing support to Bungie for Destiny 2. It gives reason as to why it’d be chosen for Diablo 2.
There are no details or intel as when it will be launched but we would surely keep you posted!
